Subject-Wise Strategy
Paper 1: Financial Reporting
Almost entirely Ind AS-based. Must-cover standards: Ind AS 115 (Revenue), Ind AS 116 (Leases), Ind AS 103 (Business Combinations), Ind AS 109 (Financial Instruments). The examiner tests application, not memory.
Paper 2: Advanced Financial Management
Heavily numeric. High-weightage topics: Derivatives (Options using Black-Scholes and Binomial; Futures; Swaps), Portfolio Management (Sharpe, Treynor, Jensen), Foreign Exchange risk, and M&A valuation. Solve every numeric past paper problem you can find.
Papers 4 and 5: Direct Tax and Indirect Tax
Always use the study material for your specific exam attempt β never an older version. Tax law changes every year.
For IDT practice, use the FDP Tools GST Calculator to quickly verify your answers.
Paper 6: Integrated Business Solutions
IBS is a 3-hour case study integrating all subjects. Begin solving ICAI model case studies from Month 3. One question may require FR valuation, Audit controls, and DT implications all together β prepare to switch between subjects fluidly within a single answer.
